Yesterday I noticed yesterday a split is developing in the middle of the SC belt. Has any one ever seen this? The split is not all the way thru and the belt still looks healthy otherwise. The belt is about 25 years old, but the car has only been driven about 2500 miles since it was installed. Most of those miles have been accumulated between last Septemeber and now. The belt tensioner was replaced 4 or 5 years ago.
I'm wondering if it's the belt's age or a symtom of something else I need to look into. As meaty as those belts are I was a bit surprised when I saw it.
