I'd be willing to go down that road, but my adjustables were long gone before I got it sadly.A company in Memphis Tn. called R.E. enterprises was offering a rebuild service for adj. shocks, I spoke to them 3 years ago? about sending the 2 pairs I have to be redone. I think it was $65.00 + materials(45.00) per unit. So $110.00 each, but that was 3 years ago. There website is still active, So I think they are still going. (901) 385-9621. I'm in Canada, so at the time, the freight both ways & to find a carrier that would take a pressurized/oil filled(some leaking) item was twice the price of the part.
I think there was a member on here about the same time that was trying to put together a group purchase at a discounted price, since once the CNC & other tools were set up for these specific units, they do all at 1 time cheaper.
As these are for the Mk VIII, do you have to change anything else and do you have any experience with them? There’s these coil overs available. https://www.maxpeedingrods.com/prod...r-to-struts-coil-springs-conversion-kits.html
Have you been in contact with RE? Are they still offering this service? I saw your post looking for worn or cores.I'd be willing to go down that road, but my adjustables were long gone before I got it sadly.
Don't know yet but I wanted to go ahead and try to get some and see if someone else will if they won'tHave you been in contact with RE? Are they still offering this service? I saw your post looking for worn or cores.
Let us know what they say.I'm glad I saw this I almost threw out my old shocks. I just reached out to RE.
A review of the Miata application on Grassroots Motorsports pegged these as absolute garbage: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/maxpeedingrods-coilovers-for-nanb-miata/163039/page4/As these are for the Mk VIII, do you have to change anything else and do you have any experience with them?
yeah I saw that. Honestly I'd go to the effort and cost to rebuild a set of stock ones if it was possible but if that isn't available just a decent set of non adjustable would be my choice. I don't really use it any way that a good coilover conversion would be justified. Relevant quote: "We tried a couple of different of damper settings. The discussion came up as to whether this setup is better than stock springs with a set of blown stock shocks. It was inconclusive."
I wonder how they rebuild them, do they cut them open or are they possible to take apart? I was told ARC shocks are not rebuildable.A company in Memphis Tn. called R.E. enterprises was offering a rebuild service for adj. shocks, I spoke to them 3 years ago? about sending the 2 pairs I have to be redone. Try this site https://racingeclipse.com/services/custom-shock-servicesI wonder how they rebuild them, do they cut them open or are they possible to take apart? I was told ARC shocks are not rebuildable.
When I spoke to them, they said the remove plastic dust sheild/cover from the top & drill hole through the weld at top of tube to release gas & drain the oil. Then they cut the rest of the weld at top & remove the top cap & pull the piston/rod assy. out of lower tube with the cap on it. They replace the adjustable valve at bottom of rod, press a new machined sleeve into the lower tube( if suface damaged/scored) replace seals on piston, replace seal in top cap where rod comes through it, refinish the rod surface if scored/pitted,refill lower tube with oil, reasemble the the piston/rod/cap to the lower tube reweld leaving a port to ref ill with gas( not sure how they do that) test for function in both valve postitions, check for leaks of gas oil, paint & reinstall the plastic upper cover/dust sheild.I wonder how they rebuild them, do they cut them open or are they possible to take apart? I was told ARC shocks are not rebuildable.
