Transmission Lines

Looks like the mechanic cut and apliced my cooler lines when they swapped the trans. Well the line got sucked into the belt and fluid is everywhere. Where are you guys with AODs getting your trans cooler lines from? I cant seem to find any.

Have it towed back to the mechanic, and have it done over correctly. Is this the same guy that did the junior's engine? If you can't get the belts clean, they should be replaced, also.

I just replaced the jack shaft belt and the supercharger belt like 100 miles ago. I was planning on replacing the lower radiator hose and replacing the main belt Sunday. Im gonna have him do it now because the main belt got shredded when it sucked in the line.

Its the mechanic that installed the engine but not the guy who built the engine. The mechanic is actually not bad. Hes done alot of work for me with no issues before. They couldnt find the cooler lines when they swapped the trans for me so they patched the lines right off the cooler. Its on his dime now and he knows that. I just wanted to see if I could find the correct lines.

EDIT: They were leaking at the time of the swap where he spliced them.

Make sure he uses a 5/16" hose to radiator cooler barb fittings. Slightly flair the existing metal transmission lines, and use fuel injection style hose clamps. Also, transmission fluid rated hose. Loop, and attach the hose to the right, well away from the belts/pulleys.

So you're saying he can use rubber hose as long as we use something like this to transition?

Look at auxiliary transmission oil cooler kits. You just need the right kind of hose. Also, metal lines, and using compression unions, is another choice. What happen to the original lines? Also, how far back were they cut?

Not very far. Maybe a 6-8" secrion in the engine compartment. 1000020772.jpg
You can see the rubber lines. One caught between the belt and pulley.

I was just looking at 5/16 line and compression fittings. Steel fittings better than brass? Obviously steel line. Is the fitting in the cooler 14mm? I found fuel repair line kits that have a 14mm threaded end and one compression coupling. If 14mm fits I could get two of those and fix it that way. Honestly, dudes pretty cool he may even let me repair it there if I bring the parts. But he's covering the trans fluid and radiator fluid. It probably would have cost $30 in parts for him to have just done that from the start.

When he put the trans in, did he tell you that the lines were messed up? How, and why, did the lines get cut off, like that? I would just pay him, to repair the lines, replace the belt, and make it right.

When I picked it up he said the lines were leaking a little so they repaired them.

Not positive on this but I would be under the impression that you might be able use lines off any aid trans. Unless the 5.0 and 3.8na are on there side or something.
