Weird transmission issue..

So my 90sc 5sp did something weird. Everything was fine drove like normal all morning then about 1000 feet from my house I went to downshift pulled it out of 3rd but it wouldn't go into any gear. When I came to a stop it went into all gears with no issue including reverse. My thought is pilot bearing? At a stand still everything feels normal but it's as if when the tires are rolling it's not allowing input shaft to slow down. I checked my fluid for the clutch and it was not low but I did notice in the resivour it almost has a reddish tint but clear on your finger. So a little history. Clutch, pressure plate, master and slave where replaced in late 2018 or early 2019 also the line from master to slave. I feel like I did the pilot I dunno why I wouldn't have but somehow don't specifically remember doing it. Do yall think I'm on the right path? remember doing it.

Input needs to speed up during downshift, not slow down.
If it will go into all gears while engine is running & car is stationary(input shaft is stopped) the pilot bearing is
not causing a issue. Sounds like a syncro issue, but all them failing at same time is very unlikely.

I'm about to go drive it again. Hadn't drove it since this morning when I had the issue. Just kinda wondering if it's a fluke thing I know it's all mechanical so probably not just a fluke but this car does some strange things time to time like it's idle is always odd sometimes it perfect idle others it's really low(I know one has nothing to do with the other) I'll update in a bit

So something with clutch/pressure plate I can see the slave pushing forward pretty fat but I almost didn't get it back in my drive way (steep hill) it did ok until on my way back home I wound out third. So I shifted normally from 2nd to 3rd then wot and when I pressed the clutch it got real soft and couldn't engage any gears costed half way up my drive way and couldn't get it into gear shut it off waited 2 or 3 mins started it up (clutch pressed already in gear) it started but when I went to let off clutch I got smoke from under the car burning clutch smell... Let the car roll down hill to level ground and let off the clutch and started moving once I got lined up to the driveway again I gave it some gas got smoke then a snatch(as the clutch grabbed the flywheel) and gave it enough gas to go up the driveway.... Pisses me off I'm not hard in the clutch I don't drive it alot and it's a newer clutch....

Any recommendations on a reasonably priced clutch kit cause apparently the rock auto one are trash. But I've also got my daughters bday this month and Xmas coming etc... So can't go buy a 400 dollar clutch kit

Did you get the flywheel resurfaced last time?

I did not but either gonna do that this time or replace the flywheel (found out I should've done that after the fact)

Anyone know if this style clutch is any better/worse than stock?

I'm not familier with that make, I had a LUK ceramic(brass button) in a 89 Cougar & removed
it 4 months later. I struggled to not stall it at least twice a week it seemed & my wife cursed it every time she
drove it.

Ok Roger that I appreciate the input. There is alot of stop on go traffic around here so that's probably not the best thing to have constantly happen

You got me beat them my wife curses mine everytime she looks at it.

We often take 2 of the anni's which are both stick or both of the XR-7's to cruise night's, but she hated taking the Cougars if she had to drive the 89-(90 IS AUTO) Really embarrassing for her stalling it in front of a bunch of men. Once I changed it back to a more conventional clutch, she wants me to drive the auto all the time-5 speed is a lot more fun according to her.

So looking for a machine shop to re-surface my flywheel (have not pulled it apart yet) but can anyone tell me if our flywheel is dual mass?? It was a question they asked me that I did not know the answer for. It's on a 90 SC 5 speed.

Finally pulled it apart and the side of the clutch disk facing the pressure plate is absoulety metal to metal no grip pad at all left. But the flywheel side is perfectly intact. Of course you can see some of the standard wear from normal use but it's odd that one side is totally gone and the other isn't? Is that an indicator that something needs to be shimmed one direction or another (right now nothing is shimmed)

PM sent, I think it is from disc not sliding freely on input shaft spline-shaft grooved/wore.
I'm interested to see what others here think though.

So just do I understand clearly. Your saying the input shaft may have a bur or something not allowing the disk to move in and out?

I have seen it on heavy trucks-the disc isn't able to fully disengage from the pressure plate-(drags againest it) & creates heat/wear primarily while stopped with transmission in gear at a light or in traffic. Not saying that's what going on with yours, just a suggestion.

I'm gonna take the clutch disk and make sure it easily slides on the input shaft... If there is a bur or something I should feel it kinda catch or snag
