Looks great Chris. Nick has been busy for sure working on that car. It is going to look great!

I have two questions though.... why strip the car to bare metal? I don't remember that car having a ton of paint on it to start with. Generally if the factory paint/base isn't lifting from the metal or rusting just use it as a foundation. Why use zinc chromate as your new base? Everything I have read has stated to use an epoxy primer instead. The epoxy primer is water proof and you can put almost anything over it. Where zinc chromate is a little less tollerant to some top coats. On my project 69 Cougar I started out using zinc chromate and later switched to DP90 epoxy primer to cover bare metal. I now know older bare metal shouldn't be covered with zinc chromate. Newer bare metal is better suited for zinc chromate primer.

Oh and a third question.... where is your resporator:rolleyes:

Bryan

hey bryan
thanks i hope it will look good i am not a very good body man and i think with all the time nick is putting in its going to look great
OK now to the respirator i was holing my breath  just showing nick how to do the sunroof jam that and a door hinge is the only thing i got to paint on the body
we striped it down because the paint was not good
the two doors and quarters have bin repainted and not good + it was hit in the left quarter and i wanted to see how bad it was so we striped all the bondo off i did a little hammer and dolly work and put the bondo back on
now as for the zinc i am a old fart this is the way i was tough to treat bare metal
its self etching zinc and its just one thin coat and then three coats of epoxy primer

chris

Wait till you see this car in person, they really have done a fantastic job of bringing this SC back to life.

I certainly look forward to seeing this car when complete. You guys have put way more work into it than I did to my 91.

Chris.... I'm a little concerned with this statement regarding the use of epoxy primer over zinc phosphate.... from what I've read and understand epoxy primer and zinc are not compatible. They don't play well together. I hope I'm wrong but if I were you I'd talk to your paint supplier. I understand zinc phosphate should only be over coated with 2K primer, sealer, and top coats whether they be lacquers, enamel, or urethanes.

Bryan

hey guys
a few more pics
the body out of the booth:cool:
Bryan i am sorry i see where the confusion is this is self etching primer (the color is zinc)
