Had a guy tell me this summer they are just a 2nd gen Fox platform(the 1st being the 78 Fairmont & Merc Zephyr ) 80-88 T-bird & Cougar were Fox chassis.
I told him there is nothing shared or anything the same as previous platform except maybe the power window & lock switch's-but I'm
wrong about that too. I don't think there is 1 component thats the same. I also think most people have no idea what they are.

I stopped for gas once in Ohio on the way to the shootout. My new fibreglass hood didn't have the bird emblem on it yet. A guy pulled up in front of me, in a MN12 bird, got out and asked me what kind of car I was driving. I guess removing the bird from the front puts you in 'stealth' mode. Tested my willpower not to say something too sarcastic.

It is rare for someone to identify my 90SC. I've taken it to several shows and there is usually only one or two people who know that it is a Thunderbird - even less know the SC trim. I get comments like "my buddy had one years ago", "I've never seen one", "it's been a long time since I've seen one", "is it a Ford?", "to thanks for bringing it out". The guy that appreciated it so much last year was driving a Pantera. I also had a guy last year who looked at the Marti report and said that he didn't know there were that many produced because he had never seen one. Typically mine is the only one at our local Ford show. There are usually a dozen or more at Ford Nationals in Carlisle, but we are far outnumbered by the Mustangs. I would guess there are more than a few of them in Central Virginia, but I rarely see another one.

I just have the SC engine and trans swapped into my old Comet. They come by expecting to see a V8,,,, many walk away having no clue what it is. Some speak horror under their breath that it isn't a V8, lol and the odd guy will actually enquire as to it's origin.

When I'd pull into a car show, I used to get directed to the spectator parking. lol That hasn't happened since I built the hood.
