I have a suspect worn timing chain on my newly purchased 94 SC. Why is it that Ford used a long chain and tensioner to take up the slack? It makes much more since to me to use a proper fitting chain with little slack vs a tensioner to cause maintenance problems in the future.
why over length timing chain?
