Winter SC plans

Curious what everyone plans on doing to their SC this winter. I plan to finish wet sanding and buffing my paint out. I was only able to get the drivers side, hood and deck lid done last winter. Spent 40 or so hours to this point. I also hope to get an engine build started.1000000406.jpg1000000403.jpg

I'm going to paint a good part of my undercarriage before the northeast salt goes down!! I have a set of underdrive pulleys to install, along with a 70mm BBK TB and 76mm MAF. I have to wet-sand and buff a good part of my SC too... Painted both bumpers and all the ground effects over the summer.

It is an AR 2.1 or 2.4. I can't remember what Dave told me. He had it brand new on the shelf forever and kindly agreed to build the kit for me.
Must be the 2.1 AR like several of the TBU guys got from Dave. I think it's the same supercharger kit as Kurt K, Micah and Tony Serno have on their SCs.

Am I correct it would need to be at least 1.8 liter displacement to compensate for the difference in the engine displacement-3.8-4.2? The M90 is 90 c.i. or 1.5 liter.

Doug,

The 1.7 AR couldn't keep up when my motor size was increased from 3.8 to 4.2 liters. I was having to overdrive it too much to make even the same power I was making with the 3.8 motor. That's why I upgraded to the 2.3 Whipple.

I'm excited to get it running. Unfortunately, we've had snow already in Ohio and may not get a chance to drive it. I might just go ahead and upgrade the ECU before starting the tuning phase.

My white 89 SC daily driver got some service, and repairs, this week. Basic lube, oil, and filter. Inspect everything underneath, including brakes. Replaced main accessory belt, (gates), and inspected everything that spins. Replaced power steering cooler hoses. Required cutting off crimps, and slightly flaring ends. Replaced PS fluid,(type-F), and bled system. With the wheels off the ground, I crank the engine, while holding the throttle wide open, so it doesn't start. Then I turn the steering wheel fully to the left, then right, and back to center. Adjust fluid level. Nice and quiet, this way.
I finally replaced my leaky radiator, with the Chinese Liland aluminum unit. With some bracket re-drilling, and tweaking, I got it in. Flushed system. Works OK, but doesn't seem to cool much better, than my 36 year old one. Doesn't leak, so far. Oh, and I replaced the old tired used Motorcraft battery, with a Everstart Maxx, group 65. We will see how it holds up. I usually get 10+ years from "good quality" batteries. It does crank over faster. I have put over 22,000 miles on it, since bringing it back from the dead, not that long ago.
